About us
Colombia Macro is the open monitor of Colombia's macroeconomy: it brings together the country's official economic indicators in one place, explained so that anyone can read and interpret them.
What Colombia Macro is
Colombia Macro is an independent, academic dashboard on the Colombian economy. It answers one central question: which phase of the cycle is Colombia's economy in, and what does it mean for prices, monetary policy and assets?
To answer it, it brings together Colombia's GDP and growth, inflation, unemployment and informality, the Banco de la República policy rate, the TES yield curve, the Colombian peso (TRM), stocks and companies, external and fiscal accounts and foreign trade. Every figure comes from an official source, updates automatically and comes with an explanation of how to read it, why it matters and which formula produces it.
Our mission
To make Colombia's macroeconomy understandable, verifiable and useful for foreign and Colombian investors, students, researchers, journalists and decision makers.
A good decision starts with understanding the context: where the country is in the cycle, what pressure there is on prices, what the central bank is doing and how markets react. That is why every page starts from a concrete question and answers it with data, not opinions.
Who is behind it
Colombia Macro is a project of the Trading Lab at Universidad de San Buenaventura Cali, built by the lab's students and researchers. The project belongs to the lab and is presented on its behalf.
It is supported by FinancialTools.io, the company that works with the Trading Lab; the idea grew out of a FinancialTools macroeconomic model in MacroQuantiva.

Our principles
Official data only
DANE, Banco de la República, Ministry of Finance, the Superintendencies, Confecámaras and DIAN. No figure is typed by hand; the few auxiliary sources are labelled as such.
No forecasts
We describe what is observed. Anything forward-looking, such as breakeven inflation from TES bonds, is a market reading and is presented as one.
No recommendations
Colombia Macro informs; it is not investment advice or a buy or sell signal.
Open methodology
Every chart shows its source, its methodology and a magnifier with its formulas. The methodology note and the reading Codex are public.
Reproducible and audited
The whole process, from download to chart, runs automatically with tests and quality checks on every update; the methods are documented in the methodology note.
Visible uncertainty
When a measure depends on the method, such as the output gap, we show the range across methods rather than a single figure.
